The Kalamazoo Farmers Market kicks off its 2026 season this Saturday, May 2, and there’s big news — it’s the first season under new management after 13 years.
A New Chapter for a Kalamazoo Tradition
Gamsho Group, LLC — the team behind Park Street Market and Midtown Fresh — takes over operations this year, bringing fresh energy, new payment systems, and expanded programming to one of Kalamazoo’s most beloved community assets.
The market is located at 1204 Bank Street in the Edison Neighborhood. Opening day is Saturday, May 2, from 7 AM to 1 PM, and the community is invited to come celebrate.
Meet the New Operators
The operation is led by Kiar Gamsho and Marcus Collins, with Deb Droppers of the Kalamazoo Experiential Learning Center handling events, rentals, and programming. The City of Kalamazoo selected Gamsho Group through a committee-led bidding process.
“We are incredibly honored that the City of Kalamazoo has entrusted Gamsho Group to serve as stewards of the Kalamazoo Farmers Market, one of the most important community assets in our region. This market is more than a place to shop; it’s where local agriculture, small businesses, and community come together.”
— Kiar Gamsho, Gamsho Group LLC
People’s Food Co-Op had run the market since 2013 under an initial three-year contract with yearly renewals. The city put the role out for a public bid this year to ensure transparency.
“The City of Kalamazoo and Kzoo Parks are grateful for the support and operations provided by People’s Food Co-Op over the years. We are excited to begin a new chapter of operations with Gamsho Group, and we look forward to a fun-filled and exciting season. The facility’s operations will remain the same and there shouldn’t be any noticeable changes to shoppers.”
— Patrick McVerry, Kalamazoo Parks Director
